Period Underwear Essentials
What is period underwear and how does it work?
Period underwear looks and feels like regular underwear but features built-in absorbent layers that replace the need for pads or tampons. Our period panties combine four protective layers that wick away moisture, absorb menstrual fluid and help prevent leaks, keeping you feeling dry and comfortable.
Learn more about how our period underwear works.
Can period underwear replace pads and tampons?
Yes! Our period underwear is designed to be worn on its own, without disposable pads or tampons. Depending on your flow, you may prefer additional protection on heavier days or when trying period underwear for the first time.
How absorbent is SOKORU period underwear?
Our period underwear is designed to absorb up to 25 ml of menstrual fluid, equivalent to around four regular tampons. Absorbency needs vary depending on your flow, so we recommend changing into a fresh pair whenever necessary.
Learn more about our absorbency technology.
How long can I wear period underwear?
Our period underwear can be worn for up to 12 hours, depending on your flow. On heavier days, you may need to change more frequently. We recommend changing into a fresh pair whenever your underwear begins to feel damp or reaches its absorbency limit.
Can I wear period underwear overnight?
Yes! Our period underwear can be worn overnight, provided the absorbency suits your flow. For the best protection, put on a fresh pair before bed and choose a style with comfortable, secure coverage. If you have a particularly heavy flow, additional protection may be helpful.
Can I wear period underwear during exercise?
Absolutely. Our period underwear is designed to move with you, whether you're running, practising Pilates or heading to the gym. Lightweight, flexible fabrics and moisture-wicking technology help keep you comfortable and protected throughout your workout.
Will period underwear feel wet or develop an odour?
Our period underwear features COOLMAX® moisture-wicking technology, which helps draw moisture away from your skin to minimise that damp feeling. Changing regularly and washing properly help keep your underwear fresh. As with any period product, odour can develop if worn for too long.
Can I wear period underwear on heavy-flow days?
Yes. Our period underwear is designed to absorb up to 25 ml of menstrual fluid, making it suitable for a range of flow levels. If your flow is particularly heavy, you may need to change pairs more frequently or use additional protection.

Sizing & Fit
How do I choose the right size?
Our period underwear is designed to fit like your regular underwear, so we recommend starting with your usual size. For the most accurate fit, check our size guide before ordering.
Should period underwear fit differently from regular underwear?
Not at all. Our period underwear should feel comfortably snug without digging in or restricting movement. A secure fit around the legs and gusset helps keep the absorbent layers in place and prevent leaks.
What if I'm between sizes?
If you're between sizes, we recommend sizing up for a more comfortable fit. Our stretchy fabrics adapt to your body while maintaining a secure fit.
Which SOKORU style is right for me?
It comes down to your personal preference. Our Classic offers everyday coverage, High Waist provides a higher-rise fit, and Boyshort offers additional coverage around the hips and upper thighs.
Each style features our built-in absorbent protection, so you can choose the silhouette that feels most comfortable for you.
How can I tell if my period underwear fits correctly?
Your period underwear should sit smoothly against your body, with the absorbent gusset positioned securely and no gaps around the leg openings. It should feel comfortable when sitting, walking or moving, without slipping, bunching or digging in.
Fabrics & Safety
What materials are used in SOKORU period underwear?
Our period underwear is made with premium Italian technical fabrics, carefully selected for comfort, absorbency and durability. We use COOLMAX® polyester to wick away moisture, polyamide and recycled polyamide for softness and stretch, and a lightweight polyethylene barrier to help prevent leaks.
Learn more about how our four-layer technology works.
Why do you use technical fabrics instead of cotton?
Cotton absorbs moisture but tends to hold onto it, making it less suitable for period underwear, where keeping skin dry is essential. That's why we invest in premium Italian technical fabrics. Although more expensive than conventional cotton, they offer superior moisture management, faster drying and lasting comfort, while providing the flexibility and leak protection our underwear is designed for.
What is COOLMAX® technology and how does it work?
COOLMAX® is a moisture-wicking fabric technology designed to draw moisture away from your skin, helping you feel drier and more comfortable. We use it in the inner layer of our period underwear to help manage moisture throughout the day.
Is SOKORU period underwear PFAS-free?
Yes. Our period underwear is PFAS-free and made with premium OEKO-TEX® certified fabrics. We also carry out PFAS testing to ensure our materials meet our safety standards, giving you greater peace of mind.
What does OEKO-TEX® certification mean?
OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certification means a textile has been tested for a range of potentially harmful substances against defined safety limits. We choose certified fabrics to provide greater confidence in the materials used in our period underwear.
Is your period underwear suitable for sensitive skin?
Yes, our period underwear is designed with sensitive skin in mind. We use premium, OEKO-TEX® certified fabrics that are soft, breathable and wick moisture away to minimise prolonged dampness and irritation. However, everyone's skin is different, so we can't guarantee that irritation won't occur.
Are your fabrics breathable?
Yes. Our period underwear is made with lightweight, breathable Italian technical fabrics that allow air to circulate and help manage moisture. Combined with COOLMAX® moisture-wicking technology, they help keep you feeling dry, fresh and comfortable throughout the day.
Does your period underwear contain antimicrobial treatments?
Our approach focuses on moisture management rather than relying on antimicrobial claims. COOLMAX® technology helps draw moisture away from the skin, while regular changing and proper washing help maintain freshness.
Care & Washing
How do I wash my period underwear?
Caring for your period underwear is simple. Rinse in cold water after use, then machine wash with a mild detergent, following the care label. Avoid bleach and fabric softener, and always air dry to maintain the absorbency and performance of the protective layers.
Do I need to rinse period underwear before washing?
We recommend rinsing your period underwear in cold water after each use to remove excess menstrual fluid before washing. Avoid hot water, as it can make blood stains harder to remove.
Can I wash period underwear with my regular laundry?
Absolutely. After rinsing, you can machine wash your period underwear alongside your regular laundry at the temperature recommended on the care label. We suggest using a laundry bag to help protect the delicate fabrics.
Can I use fabric softener or bleach?
No. Fabric softeners can leave a residue that affects moisture-wicking and absorbency, while bleach can damage the technical fabrics. A mild detergent is all you need to keep your period underwear clean and performing at its best.
Can I tumble dry my period underwear?
No, our period underwear should always be air dried. The heat from tumble drying can damage the technical fabrics and weaken the bonded seams, causing them to come apart and compromising the underwear's durability and leak protection.
How do I prevent odours?
Rinse your period underwear after use, wash it thoroughly with a mild detergent and allow it to air dry completely before storing. Changing regularly and avoiding fabric softener will also help keep your underwear fresh.
How should I store used period underwear before washing?
Ideally, rinse your period underwear in cold water after use and wash it as soon as practical. If you're unable to wash it immediately, keep it in a separate, breathable laundry bag until you're ready. Avoid leaving damp underwear sealed in a bag for extended periods.
Sustainability & Longevity
How long does SOKORU period underwear last?
Our period underwear is designed to be worn, washed and reused for years. We invest in premium Italian technical fabrics and durable construction to ensure lasting comfort and performance. With proper care, your SOKORU underwear can remain a reliable part of your period routine for a long time.
How many pairs of period underwear do I need?
It depends on your flow, cycle length and how often you do laundry. We recommend starting with three pairs to see how period underwear fits into your routine. For a full cycle without relying on disposable products, five to seven pairs is a practical starting point, allowing time for washing and air drying.
Is reusable period underwear more sustainable than disposable period products?
Reusable period underwear can be a more sustainable alternative to disposable pads and tampons by reducing the amount of single-use waste generated each month. One pair can be washed and worn repeatedly, potentially replacing hundreds of disposable products over its lifetime. The overall environmental impact also depends on how long you use your underwear and how you care for it.
Does SOKORU use recycled materials?
Yes. We incorporate recycled polyamide into our carefully selected technical fabrics, helping reduce our reliance on virgin materials without compromising comfort, stretch or performance. We believe sustainability should go hand in hand with quality, which is why we focus on creating underwear you'll want to wear for years.
How do I know when to replace my period underwear?
With proper care, your SOKORU period underwear is designed to last. However, if you notice reduced absorbency, persistent leaks, damaged seams or significant fabric wear, it may be time for a replacement. Following our washing and drying instructions will help extend the life of each pair.
